We have had a busy time this week at Equine Bitting solutions with bitting consultations and training sessions in Kent and Essex.
At the beginning of the week I met lovely Jan and her totally amazing horse Felix.
Felix is a real pocket rocket and can turn his hoof to anything, not only is he a brilliant show jumper, Jan also competes him at advanced medium in dressage. Jan booked a bit consultation as she wanted to make sure he was comfortable with his double bits and to see if we could improve communication and create more suppleness and springy impulsion. So after watching them work together, I changed the bradoon and then once had had become accustomed to the change we altered the curb chain a little so the weymouth became more effective with a lighter rein aid. Felix responded straight away, he had more cadence with more power and quickly responded to rein aids so Jan could keep the aids more subtle. This made him more confident to go forward as the communication came much quicker and clearer for him.
What a super pair they are, and he actually looks like a mini Valegro!
